Car insurance premiums influenced by job

Wed, 03 Oct 2007

According to recent research, the profession that you choose to follow has a big difference on the cost of car insurance premiums .

The price comparison website Confused.com found that each consumer’s job makes a big difference to how much they pay for their car insurance policy . The Confused group compare a variety of insurance policies to bring consumers the best quote possible.

The group compared a variety of professions in the UK, and drew a number of conclusions. For instance, footballers, stunt men, journalists, builders and driving instructors could all face higher motor insurance costs. Computer consultants, paramedics, teachers, doctors and bank managers all had much lower premiums to pay.

The managing director of confused.com, Debra Williams, reportedly commented: "Insurers assess risk in many different ways, one of which is profession. While one insurer may have a terrible claims history for footballers, another may not. This is why it is always vital to shop around for insurance to ensure that you are not being unfairly penalised for the driving habits of others within your profession."
