Young motorists could pay 70 per cent more for car insurance

Mon, 05 Nov 2007

Young motorists who are learning to drive and have recently passed their test are likely to have to pay between 50% and 70% more for their car insurance policies . Furthermore, for those people with three years of driving experience and without any kind of accident, premiums will remain high.

Numerous provisional drivers could suddenly find themselves unable to be insured on their vehicles, unless it is guaranteed that they are accompanied at all times. The climbing cost of this type of insurance is largely down to the higher risk of claims that these drivers pose.

Those without full driving licenses are likely to face the full force of the increased premiums. The cost of motoring is going up all the time, with year-on-year increases in fuel prices and road tax adding to the burden. Vehicle insurance industry experts advise consumers to shop around to find the best quote possible.
