New research has revealed that among a range of professions, footballers tend to be the most likely to drive at excessive speeds.
According to moneysupermarket.com, more than one in four footballers are likely to speed, while one in five barristers and finance director also tend to drive above the speed limit.
Richard Mason, director of insurance at the firm, said: "Perhaps the pressure of high-powered jobs causes drivers to break the limit. Higher pay cheques often mean flashier cars too, which might encourage drivers to put their foot down."
Fines evidently do have an impact, Mr Mason suggested, stating that people who can "least afford" to pay speeding tickets tend to observe the speed limit "far better".
In related news, car insurance provider Confused.com recently reported that the number of people caught jumping traffic lights has increased during the course of the first nine months of the year.
