Direct Line praised for car insurance

Insurer Direct Line has been named as one of the UK's most competitive car insurance companies.

The car insurance provider came top of all the major insurers in a new report conducted by big four accountancy firm Deloitte, which evaluated prices offered by 12 online and 169 broker insurance schemes.

Paul Baxter, head of car insurance at Direct Line, commented: "This report shows that Direct Line continues to offer our customers some of the most competitive premiums on the market, but it is about more than just price."

He said that other factors such as high levels of service and the innovative range of products offered contributed to this success.

However, the company also warned that some price comparison sites may not offer the best car insurance deals to consumers, with other policies offering a better deal.

Mr Baxter added that car insurance from Direct Line is not available from middle men, but rather can only be obtained from the insurer via telephone or the internet.

In addition to car insurance, Direct Line offers travel insurance, pet insurance, van insurance and a number of personal loans and mortgages.
