More motorists are choosing to take out eco-friendly car insurance as awareness of climate change grows, it has been claimed.
According to research from the Co-operative Bank for its Ethical Consumerism Report, the last six years has seen the UK's green financial services sector grow from £5.1 billion to £11.5 billion per annum.
Moreover, the amount spent on ethical goods in total has apparently increased from £8 billion to £29.3 billion during the same time interval.
David Neave, director of general insurance at financial services provider Co-operative Insurance Society, commented on changing consumer trends.
"From our annual Ethical Consumerism Report, it is apparent that more and more consumers are becoming environmentally aware and that influences what they buy, including the purchase of car insurance," he said.
The Co-operative Insurance Society offers a car insurance deal that features cheap car insurance quotes for green vehicles and a car insurance claims service that aims to be rooted in environmentally-aware practices.
Some other financial services providers also offer cheap car insurance quotes for motorists who use low-emission diesel or electric-powered motors, which may be of interest to drivers looking to finance a new car.
