The overall cost-effectiveness of the new car insurance product offered by Alliance & Leicester has been brought into question by financing website moneysupermarket.com, which has also urged motorists to shop around.
Last week, the financial services provider officially launched itself into the insurance product by offering a range of insurance services to its customers.
Among the insurance products launched was a car insurance deal.
This offered specialist features such as providing a replacement vehicle if the policyholder's damaged car is less than one year old.
Moreover, it also includes personal belongings cover and a replacement car for those motorists who take out fully comprehensive car insurance cover.
And Peter Gerrard, insurance researcher at moneysupermarket.com, admitted that some of the features may prove particularly appealing to certain drivers looking for a new car insurance deal.
"There are some useful features to the policy," he remarked.
"But right now, I would advise motorists who are looking to make maximum savings to shop around for the best deal."
In addition to car insurance products, Alliance & Leicester also provides a range of services in other areas, including mortgage deals and personal loan offers.
