Car insurance company backs green initiative

Co-operative Insurance (CIS), a provider of car insurance, is showing its green side, backing an environmentally-friendly car show.

CIS has been announced as the official sponsor of a unique eco-car show that will showcase a selection of green vehicles from a line up of leading manufacturers. Taking place at the Eden Project in Cornwall the car show will include new cars designed from an eco-friendly standing.

With EU legislation requiring car manufacturers to cut CO2 emissions by 18 per cent by 2012, it is hoped that the uptake of new, green vehicles will be high.

Meanwhile CIS recently launched the UK's first eco car insurance product, including a number of environmentally friendly features. The unique car insurance deal is designed to encourage motorists to embrace green issues through environmentally-aware motoring.

"When Eden first approached us to support the world's first 'green' car show here in Britain we were eager to get onboard as the UK's only provider of an eco motor insurance product," commented David Newman, CIS marketing director.

"At Co-operative Insurance we are firm believers that every person can make a 'tiny difference' to climate change."
