In news that may be of interest to many motor insurance policyholders, a UK-based road safety organisation has welcomed the arrival of the UN's Global Road Safety Week.
Between April 23rd and April 29th 2007, the UN intends to make a concerted effort to raise awareness of motoring dangers and tackle the 1.2 million fatalities caused on the world's roads every 12 months.
Now, Kevin Clinton, head of road safety at The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, has endorsed the public awareness drive and called on domestic motor insurance customers and other road users to take the necessary safety steps.
"It is a much needed and important opportunity to raise awareness," he said.
"The UK has a very good road safety record but we know there are many improvements which can still be made."
Earlier this month, car insurance customers may remember that a new international motoring website was launched by airline British Airways and motor rental company Avis.
The internet site was designed to provide UK road users with general advice and road sign tips for 20 countries across the world, including the US, Australia and New Zealand.
