Shopping around for car insurance imperative, expert claims

Wed, 06 Sep 2006

It is "imperative" that UK motorists shop around for their car insurance policies, an expert has claimed.

UK drivers should find the most suitable policy for them both when finding a new deal, or looking to renew, states Richard Mason, director of insurance at Moneysupermarket.com.

"It is still imperative motorists shop around when they first need insurance as well as when it comes to renewing their policy and in the latter case the situation is simple; if you have not made a claim, you should not expect your premium to increase upon renewal," he asserted.

Mr Mason commented in the wake of car insurance provider Admiral's promise to freeze its policy premiums.

However, the expert warns customers not to automatically choose their current provider when renewing their car insurance policy, irrespective of their promises.

Richard Mason recently claimed that Norwich Union's decision to raise their car insurance policy prices by at least six per cent, or up to 35 per cent for high-risk drivers, as a "slap in the face" to customers.
