UK residents living in an inner-city area will pay more for their car insurance, one expert has claimed.
Higher risks faced by motorists in these areas translate into higher car insurance costs, noted David Ross, a spokesman for Norwich Union.
Mr Ross asserted that higher likelihoods of accidents, coupled with an increased risk of vandalism or theft, are the driving forces behind these increased car insurance costs.
"If for example you live in a city, from a motor insurance perspective then the cost of claims will naturally be higher," he said.
"Inner cities generally tend to be worse."
However, Mr Ross also stated that it is at the owners' discretion whether they choose to submit a car insurance claim.
Some Britons may not wish to lose the no-claims bonus on their car insurance policy for small damage such as a broken wing-mirror, the expert claimed.
Nicki Bolton, the corporate communications manager for esure and Sheilas' Wheels, recently stated that if motorists make a claim for vandalism it will affect their car insurance premiums as the perpetrators can rarely be found.
