Car insurance company finds Fords in Essex

Online car insurance company swiftcover.com claims that where you live significantly influences the car you drive, following research into car ownership.

Essex was found to be the county where you are most likely to find Fords on the road, with 61 per cent more Ford owners here than in the rest of the country.

The survey also revealed that four-by-fours are not limited to rural areas like Cumbria and Shropshire, but that they are just as likely to be driven by commuters in the south-east and London – the same areas where drivers seem to like their luxury cars.

East Riding in Yorkshire has the highest density of Mercedes drivers in the country, the car insurance company found.

Andrew Blowers, the chief executive at swiftcover.com, says all drivers need car insurance, irrespective of the kind of car they drive.

He adds that it is important to shop around for the most competitive car insurance deal.

"Whilst you might be more likely to drive a Ford in Essex, it doesn't mean you will be paying the same for your car insurance as your fellow Essex boy or indeed girl," he explains.

"Whatever car you drive and wherever you live, you need to insure your car against theft and damage," Mr Blowers adds.

He claims that swiftcover.com has revolutionised the car insurance market by offering insurance completely online.

This means that drivers can get a car insurance quote "at the push of the button within a minute".
