Tesco car insurance bridges gap, experts say

Thu, 01 Jun 2006

The new Tesco Value Car Insurance policy bridges the gap between third party fire and theft and fully comprehensive, according to an analyst.

Richard Mason, director at price comparison company insuresupermarket, commented: "[The car insurance policy offers] motorists a decent level of protection when they need it, but not charging them a fortune for doing so.

"It's ideal for those who cannot afford fully comprehensive cover or are not too worried about claiming for every minor scratch."

However Mr Mason points out that while the car insurance policy costs are low, there are restrictions applied which consumers should be aware of.

These restrictions include an age limit, as the policy is not available to anyone under 21, the policy does not protect the customer's no-claims bonus and all repairs must be carried out by an approved mechanic.

insuresupermarket offers advice on car insurance, home insurance, life insurance, private medical insurance, travel insurance, mortgage protection, income protection, pet insurance, dental insurance and motor breakdown cover.

Tesco states that the best features of the car insurance policy are 24-hour accident recovery, up to 70 per cent off for five years no-claims discount, MOTs for £30 and an extra 5 per cent discount on a Tesco home insurance policy.
