Consumers prefer eco-friendly car insurance, CIS claims

Thu, 06 Jul 2006

Over 82 per cent of UK residents would rather have an eco-friendly car insurance policy, claim Co-operative Insurance (CIS).

UK residents would prefer the eco-friendly car insurance to help tackle global warming, the company claims.

The company has recently released the UK's first car insurance policy, which contains environmentally friendly features throughout.

David Neave, director of general insurance at Co-operative Insurance, said: "Whilst many people accept that motoring is a necessary means of transport, many motorists now recognise the environmental impact that driving a car has on climate change.

"The introduction of our eco motor insurance product does not just help to offset the carbon emissions at the outset, it continues to contribute toward managing the environmental impact throughout the entire journey."

He adds that the company's ethical consumerism report makes it clear that more UK residents are becoming environmentally aware, which influences their purchasing.

The company's car insurance policy is high quality and the company is ethically grounded, he concludes.

Co-operative Insurance has recently installed solar panels on its London office and wind turbines on its Manchester building.
