Consumers with car insurance policies could make savings worth £10,000 over their lifetime by maintaining their four year no claims discount, according to Privilege Insurance.
Research from the insurance company shows that car insurance policy holders can make savings of up to £203 per year by safely and avoiding incidents.
Commenting on the findings, Ian Parker, managing director of Privilege Insurance, states: "The research shows that safe drivers are saving thousands of pounds by staying accident free, as well as making the roads a safer place for us all."
"While insurance is sometimes seen as a boring necessity, driving safely and obeying the rules of the road are important and that is why Privilege feels it is essential to reward those drivers who do so," Mr Parker adds.
In order to help drivers keep their car insurance premiums low, Privilege has offered a range of advice.
This includes keeping their car in a garage , checking any modifications with their insurance company before they are carried out and fitting a Thatcham approved immobiliser .
Privilege is underwritten by Direct Line Insurance and offers both car insurance and home insurance.
It is currently offering a 25 per cent discount for people arranging home insurance using online banking services.
