People taking out car insurance for two or more vehicles with Direct Line qualify for a new discount, the insurance company has announced.
Starting from ten per cent, the automatic discount applies to up to ten car insurance policies.
This car insurance discount has been introduced following research that found that 85 per cent of households have at least one car, with four in ten owning two or more.
The car insurance saving is available to friends living at the same address as well as to named drivers of other Direct Line car insurance policies, regardless of where they live.
Emma Holyer, motor spokesperson for Direct Line, says: "The two-car household is now more likely to be the three- or four-car household, with the costs of owning cars running into thousands."
Research shows that a quarter of UK motorists spend over £10,000 on their cars, paying for it by taking out personal loans, dipping into their savings or giving up holidays.
Ms Holyer says the car insurance company will help to "ease this financial burden" by offering the new car insurance discount.
The car insurance discount is available to new car insurance customers as well as to those who already have a Direct Line car insurance policy.
