Car insurance provider now fully online

The first fully online insurance provider, able to provide complete car insurance quotes in under a minute, launched its services on the internet.

Swiftcover.com offers insurance customers significant savings on their insurance policies, claiming nearly three-quarters of customers would save around 20 per cent.

There are no callcentres and all insurance quotes, transactions and requests are dealt with online only.

According to the website's chief executive officer Andrew Blowers, consumers are becoming increasingly comfortable with transacting entirely online.

"At swiftcover.com, we identified a gap in the insurance market to offer consumers not only the chance to buy their policies online, but to manage the entire process from quotes to claims, without ever having to waste their time dealing with a call centre," he said.

Mr Blowers added that with offering a car insurance quote in under a minute, it is quicker and easier for customers to see if they can save money through swiftcover.com.

"We have put the customer right back in control," he said.

Consumers would be able to renew car insurance policies, change the insured car and even claim from their car insurance.

Car insurance policy holders could also safely store their insurance documentation in a personalised web space.

Mr Blowers said they are confident that this new move will revolutionise the way people buy insurance and present a challenge to the rest of the car insurance industry.
