Sheila’s Wheels is not Australian and they do not sell insurance in Australia! Instead, as a division of esure (the fastest growing insurer in the UK, ever), Sheila’s Wheels offer car insurance for women.
In 2004, esure strongly opposed a new EU directive subsidising men through
female car insurance premiums, and carried out considerable research. The
idea for Sheila’s Wheels comes from that time, and is based around several
key facts: Women were found to claim less, be responsible for fewer driving
convictions and have more considerate attitudes to driving and other road
users than their male counterparts.
Bearing in mind all of these things, Sheila’s Wheels were created in order to reward the differences, with a fresh new look at car insurance for women. With an all-female management team providing insights to create the brand, the products aim to give more back to women buying car insurance.
